NOVI, Mich. — Neighbors who wait at the stop signs where 11 Mile Road crosses Taft can hear how Novi plans to replace it with a roundabout at a public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

The one-hour session starts at 5 p.m. inside the city’s police training center on 10 Mile Road, address 45125. City staff will share information about the project there.

The intersection sits beside a Novi Community School District campus that includes several schools and a bus yard. More than 5,000 vehicles use it daily, and staggered school start times bring repeated backups, the city’s public works director told council in March.

A $1.4 million federal grant obtained through SEMCOG covers much of the cost, and the work will be managed with the Michigan Department of Transportation. Council approved a $98,000 design contract with OHM Advisors in January, paid from the Major Street Fund.

The city wants crews to start in June 2027, once classes end for the summer, so students and families see less disruption. Exact completion dates will be set as the plans are drawn up, and the city lists project updates on its Better Roads Ahead page.
