Competition Heats Up for 6th Circuit Court Judge Spot: Three Candidates in the Fray

Oakland County, MI – Residents are abuzz as three contenders vie for the coveted position of Judge in the 6th Circuit Court. The nominees for the six-year term are Tricia Dare, Nicole Sophia-Calhoun Huddleston, and Moneka Sanford. Interestingly, none of the candidates are incumbents, setting up an exciting race with no incumbent advantage.

The first round of the battle takes place on August 6, where the primary elections will be held. These elections aim to whittle down the list of candidates to two. The final victor will be decided in the election on November 5.

The current election process offers a chance not only to elect a new judge but also to engage in a democratic exercise that shapes the local judiciary’s future trajectory. However, without endorsing any candidates, it remains essential for voters to make an informed decision.

To facilitate this decision-making process, video interviews of the candidates have been provided. These interviews offer a critical outlook on the respective candidate’s platforms and help gain insight into their viewpoints. The list of candidates and related ballot issues can be found on the Oakland County Clerk’s Election Page.

All candidates have an equal opportunity to participate in the interviews, with no preferential treatment accorded to anyone. There is a nominal processing fee, and the series is sponsored by the local Bar Association to cover the costs. The sponsorship, however, does not imply endorsement.

The coming days leading up to the election day will see new videos being added frequently. It will help the electorate remain informed about their choices and their respective stands on crucial issues.

As the Primary is fast approaching, the excitement continues to build. Residents are encouraged to actively participate in the process and make their votes count.

This year’s election is a notable event not only for the 6th Circuit Court but also for the broader civic narrative it forms part of. It stands to contribute to the continued vitality and robustness of our democratic institutions.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for updates regarding the candidates and about the other significant events lined up post-elections. As always the focus remains on promoting informed and active civic participation.
