Wayne was born on February 28, 1944, in Bad Axe, Michigan, and grew up on his family’s farm in Kinde, Michigan. He left home to pursue a career as an apprentice carpenter in Detroit. Shortly thereafter, he married Judy Ellen Mitchell on June 14, 1969, in Davison, Michigan. Their 56-year marriage was characterized by mutual support and shared values.
The couple raised three sons—Scott, Aaron, and Jason—on a 10-acre property in Lapeer, where Wayne instilled in them a strong work ethic, kindness, and generosity. He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to three grandchildren: Ava, Luke, and Beau Perdue, especially relishing the time spent watching them play hockey. Wayne was also deeply connected to his extended family, holding his siblings and their children in high regard.

He cherished moments spent at the “Chicken Coop” with family and friends and found peace watching eagles along Willow Creek. His lap dog, Millie, was a constant companion, providing him with joy and comfort in his later years.
Throughout his working life, Wayne held positions as a carpenter at General Motors in Flint and as a trim carpenter serving families in the Flint area. He was known for his commitment to providing for his family, displaying a selfless nature throughout his life and always wanting the best for those he loved. Colleagues and family members recall Wayne’s great character and unwavering commitment to his family’s welfare and happiness.
