Great News For Oakland County Commuters: I-96 Reopens
Residents here in Novi, Michigan, can expect smoother travel as a stretch of eastbound I-96 has now reopened, as of Tuesday, July 30.
The section of the freeway between Novi and Meadowbrook roads was temporarily closed earlier to carry out critical wire repair works. However, the closure was significantly shorter than the estimated hour, with the freeway opening up again just ten minutes later.
Electrical Safety Reminder
Officials issued a word of caution to remind everyone about the dangers of downed power lines. If you come across fallen lines, maintain a distance of at least 20 feet and ensure your children and pets stay well away. The public is advised to consider all downed power lines as energized and risky. Reach out to either DTE Energy or Consumers Energy to report downed wires.
If the downed power line looks like it may pose an immediate risk to public safety, you’re urged to call 911. It’s important to remember that energized wires that have grounded may appear silent and motionless, but they’re still extremely hazardous. For more information about electrical safety, make sure to check out DTE Energy’s guide.
Stay safe and happy commuting, everyone!
