Big Upset in Plymouth Township Election: Heise Loses to Curmi

In a striking turn of events, Chuck Curmi, a well-known trustee in Plymouth Township, kicked incumbent Kurt Heise out of the supervisor’s seat. Curmi’s victory portrays a clear demand for new leadership from the residents of Plymouth Township. In the supervisor primary held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, Curmi got a whopping 2,609 votes (57% of total votes). Heise was not too far behind, receiving 1,995 votes, or 43% of the total.

The 69-year-old, Curmi, who used to live in Plymouth Township, is strongly placed to secure the supervisor’s post in November given that no Democrats are running for the position. Heise, who is 58, had been in the seat since 2016.

In another interesting race, the office of the township clerk, incumbent Jerry Vorva successfully defended his position against Andrew Miller. Vorva got a hold of the Republican nomination with 2,411 votes (55%), thus eliminating Miller, who received 1,942 votes. Vorva is now all set for the battle against Democrat Nancy Conzelman in the upcoming November elections.

Treasurer’s Office Race

As for the treasurer’s position, Bob Doroshewitz managed to retain his position, receiving 2,594 votes or 59%, leaving behind the challenger Janai Stepp, who received 1,783 votes.
