Novi’s Primary Election Sets the Stage for November Races
Hey folks of Novi, guess what? Your votes in the August 6 primary have outlined the lineup for the general election this coming November. Do you remember who you voted for? Well, let’s have a quick rundown.
First, there’s a must-see face-off for Michigan’s U.S. senator spot. It’s going to be Elissa Slotkin for the Democrats against Mike Rogers from the Republicans. They’re both pretty geared up to get that seat to represent Michigan in Washington, D.C.
Also, Debbie Dingell (Democrat) and Heather Smiley (Republican) will be going head-to-head for the 6th District of the U.S. House of Representatives. Interestingly enough, neither had any challengers in the primary, so they’re set in stone for the November race.
Similarly, Haley Stevens (Democrat) and Nick Somberg (Republican) are in for the 11th District in the U.S. House of Representatives; while Kelly Breen (Democrat) and Thomas Konesky (Republican) are the set names for the Michigan House of Representatives District 21.
Oakland County executive nominees are David Coulter (Democrat) and Nik Gjonaj (Republican), and the Oakland County prosecuting attorney positioning is set between Karen McDonald (Democrat) and Scott Farida (Republican).
The space for Oakland County sheriff will be a race between Amrit Kohli (Democrat) and incumbent Michael J. Bouchard (Republican). No question on these contenders as there was no confrontation in their primaries.
Moving ahead, we’ve got Lisa Brown (Democrat) and Barb Pallotta (Republican) who ran uncontested for the Oakland County clerk and register of deeds.
Meanwhile, the Oakland County treasurer’s seat was a bit of a tussle. While Democrat Robert Wittenberg had no challenger, Donna Blake emerged victorious in the Republican primary. The position of Oakland County water resources commissioner is between Jim Nash (Democrat) and Steve Johnson (Republican).
Lastly, there’s the 6th Circuit Court Judge position where Tricia Dare and Nicole Sophia-Calhoun Huddleston got the most votes and will face each other in November.
That’s it, folks. Now that you know the faces for your November election, make sure to keep yourself updated and don’t forget your civic duty come election day!
