Taco Lovers Rejoice at the Third Annual Novi Taco Fest
In the bustling city of Novi, pure taco magic is happening. Over the weekend, the much-anticipated Novi Taco Fest returned for its third year at the Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, making it a must-visit spot for all foodies.
Kicking off on Friday and spanning over three exciting days, the fest was expected to bring together around 25,000 people. Not just a paradise for taco enthusiasts, the gathering was a sight to behold, housing up to 35 taco trucks and countless other food and retail vendors.
But wait, there’s more. The fest had something for everyone and wasn’t just about gorging on mouth-watering tacos. Visitors had the chance to participate in several fun-filled competitions such as taco-eating contests, hot pepper-eating contests, and even cute dog contests. The atmosphere was buzzing with a spirit of friendly rivalry, laughter, and, of course, the irresistible aroma of fresh tacos.
Charles Prater of Highland turned out to be the champ at the taco-eating contest on Friday, taking home the coveted title like it was a walk in the park. Another visitor, sure to make rounds in the fest, was Chiquita Reed, who could not resist coming back for more delicious African-Caribbean food offered at the fest.
David Junker, the winner of the hot pepper eating contest, shared his secret strategy for victory. He reportedly said his success was all about “eating fast and swallowing as fast as you can.”
Over the past three years, the organisers have turned the festival into an annual event that both locals and visitors eagerly anticipate. Karyn Stetz, the executive director of the organising body – the Art As Healing Foundation, detailed how the fest, which started as an art fair, evolved into this vast gathering devoured by taco lovers.
She further shared about how the event has brought positivity to the west side of metro Detroit and how the preparations for the fourth Taco Fest, slated to happen in 2025, are set to start come January. Now that’s commitment to tacos!
So, mark your calendars, food fans! Next year promises to be another exciting round of the Novi Taco Fest, with more tacos, more competitions, and most importantly, more fun!
