Oakland County Readies for September Line-Up of Community Events

In Oakland County, the month of September is filled with a plethora of activities and events for residents and visitors to enjoy. Here’s the run-down on what local folks can look forward to as we wave goodbye to summer and welcome autumn.

Business and Career Development Activities

A Recharge! Career Development Program for Adults 45 and older will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon from September 9th to the 25th at Gesher Human Services in Southfield.

A Grow & Diversify Your Business Internationally webinar is scheduled for 1-2 p.m. on September 11th, targeting business owners in the IT/Computer Services, Research, Engineering & Design and Robotics Integrators industries.

The Oakland County Business-2-Business Roundtable Networking upcoming event titled, “Navigating the Future-AI’s Impact on Business, Workforce, and Ethics,” is set for September 19th.

Charitable Activities and Fundraisers

From September 3-20, the Rochester Rotary, Rochester Kiwanis, Rochester Lions, and the Rochester Hills Lions Clubs will be joining forces for a community service event for the foster care system. They will collect new underwear, socks, diapers, and pajamas for children.

The 2024 4×4 Show & Shine to benefit Haven of Oakland County will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 7th at the Mt. Holly Ski Resort.

The Forest to Table outdoor strolling dinner will happen on September 14th from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Johnson Nature Center in Bloomfield Hills. The event features a seven-course meal, live music, performing artists, and an open bar.

The Walk a Mile in My Shoes Rally is set for September 17th from 12:30-3 p.m. at the State Capitol Building in Lansing. The event highlights the need for increased funding for mental health services.

The 4th Annual Southfield Police Department Award Ceremony is scheduled for September 4th from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Regency Manor Banquet Center.

Don’t Get Scammed, a seminar by Salt Lutheran Church and the Troy Police Department, is slated for September 7th from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Clinton River Clean-Up at Pontiac Oaks by Oakland County Water Resources will take place on September 12th from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Festivals and Fairs

The popular Renaissance Festival continues to entertain crowds on Saturdays and Sundays until September 29th. The Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats is happening from August 30th to September 2nd. The Michigan State Fair runs from August 29th to September 2nd.
