“Festival of Flight” Open House & Air Show 2024 Opens Its Gates in Waterford

The town of Waterford is abuzz with excitement as the Oakland County International Airport (OCIA) announces a new name for its much-anticipated yearly Open House & Air Show. Now known as the “Festival of Flight”, the event is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, with the air show kicking off from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

This fun and educational experience promises a day full of exploration and entertainment for the entire family. Plane enthusiasts are in for a treat with a diverse variety of planes and military vehicles on display. And if you’ve ever dreamed of soaring into the skies, you can enjoy airplane and helicopter rides for just $50 per person.

Free Entry and Parking for All

Adding to the allure of the day, admission and parking for the Festival of Flight will be entirely free, making it an accessible and joyful event for everybody.

Exciting Performances Line Up

Guests will have the opportunity to watch some truly spectacular performances both in the air and on stage. This year’s performers include:

  • Misty Blue – an all-female skydiving team
  • Stephen Covington – performing thrilling maneuvers in “The Raptor”
  • Skip Stewart – piloting “Prometheus The Flying Machine,” a truly stellar Biplane
  • Erik Edgren’s Comedy Show – bringing laughs with his act in the “T-Clips”
  • Vanguard Squadron – catching everyone’s attention with a multi-ship performance

Local rock band Wanted will liven up the festival with live music at noon and will also honor the flag by playing the National Anthem at the beginning of the air show.
