Originally built by Henry Ford, the hotel maintains its iconic elements while introducing contemporary upgrades, including reimagined guest rooms and a new restaurant, Clara’s Table. This transformation not only honors its rich history but also positions it as a vital part of the community’s identity, with significant expansions planned for the future.
Excitement is in the air here in Dearborn, Michigan, as the historic Dearborn Inn makes a spectacular comeback! Initially constructed by the legendary Henry Ford in 1931, this stunning hotel has undergone a remarkable two-year renovation process and officially reopened its doors on March 19, 2025. Guests can now indulge in a perfect blend of modern amenities while still soaking in the rich history that surrounds this enchanting establishment.
The Dearborn Inn sits majestically on 23 acres of beautifully kept grounds and has now joined the ranks of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection. The renovation was no small feat, bringing together some of the best minds in design and architecture. This team, which included the Ford Land Design Team, AvroKO, Dash Design, and the Kraemer Design Group, worked hand-in-hand with expert restoration architect Quinn Evans to ensure that every detail was lovingly restored while adhering to both Michigan’s historic preservation guidelines and the National Historic Preservation Act.
But for those looking for a touch of modernity, the renovation has brought in fresh new elements! Guests will discover artifacts from the Ford archives showcased alongside vintage decor, including stylish Platner chairs and a charming vintage bar cart in the lobby. Rooms have been dramatically updated as well, now boasting luxurious four-poster walnut beds, elegant Eames chairs, and eye-catching Ford Pantone blue tiles in the bathrooms. With a total of 19 splendid suites available, including an extravagant Grand Presidential Suite, your stay promises to feel like a five-star retreat!
Room rates start at $350 per night, and for those looking to elevate their experience, personalized voicemails are now available to add a special touch to your stay. The hotel is also unveiling a brand-new dining experience with Clara’s Table, named in honor of Henry Ford’s wife, featuring a delectable menu focused on farm-to-table cuisine. Each dish reflects her culinary roots and pays homage to the love and tradition of home-cooked meals.
The experience doesn’t end there! An inviting cocktail bar, cleverly named The Four Vagabonds, beckons visitors to relish in the spirit of historic road trips taken by Ford and his friends. With delightful small plates and crafted cocktails, your taste buds are in for a treat. And for those looking for a taste of nostalgia, interactive elements such as a vintage photo booth and charming roving bar carts add a fun twist to the overall experience!
But hold your horses, there’s even more on the horizon! The inn is set to expand with plans for five colonial-style standalone homes featuring guest suites, expected to open later in 2025. The revitalized Dearborn Inn stands as a significant piece of history, as it was originally one of the nation’s first airport hotels, located across from the original Ford Airport that opened in 1924.
Over the years, an array of illustrious guests has graced its halls—from Walt Disney to Orville Wright and even Eleanor Roosevelt. The recent renovations exemplify Ford’s ongoing dedication to preserving and modernizing historical landmarks, ensuring that the Dearborn Inn remains a focal point in the community.
Now being heralded as a cultural treasure by local leaders, the Dearborn Inn is not just a hotel; it is a vibrant part of the city’s history, welcoming back old friends while attracting new visitors eager to soak up its timeless charm.
