Sponsor Our ArticlesIn a shocking turn of events, a 15-year-old male from Clinton Township has been formally charged in relation to a double shooting that tragically resulted in the death of a 42-year-old mother and left her son critically injured in Detroit.
The accused, Anthony Deshawn Sneed, faces a slew of substantial charges, including Felony Murder – Juvenile Defendant, Second-Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery, and four counts of Felony Firearms, following the incident involving the death of the victim, named as Tasneen Sherrod, and the severe injury of her 15-year-old son.
A chilling chain of events unfolded last Wednesday when prosecutors say Sneed reportedly stole a handgun from the 15-year-old victim, before discharging the firearm multiple times. Both Sherrod and her son were wounded multiple times leading to Sherrod’s unfortunate demise after being rushed to the hospital. The 15-year-old son, who remains unnamed, continues to battle for life.
Fleeing from the scene after the incident occurred, Sneed turned himself in the following Thursday. During his arraignment in the 36th District Court on Wednesday, he was remanded to the Wayne County Jail. The justice wheel progresses to hold Sneed accountable, as prosecutors have announced that he will be tried as an adult.
A formal Probable Cause Conference has been set for September 18, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Preliminary Examination scheduled for September 25, 2024, at 1:45 p.m. These proceedings will be held before Judge Kenneth King.
The case has sent shockwaves throughout the Detroit community, which now waits for justice to be delivered for Sherrod and her family.
