Strange Encounter Near Elementary School Raises Concerns

In recent concerns, Huron Valley School District has urged everyone to maintain vigilant after an unusual incident was reported near Kurtz Elementary School last Friday afternoon. According to details, two men in a black Ford truck with red lettering allegedly stopped to offer money to students.

Luckily, the students showed presence of mind and quickly gave a big thumbs up to the ‘Stranger Danger’ lessons they were taught in school. They immediately ran home and informed their parents, who reported the matter to the Milford Police. No more incidents have been reported since then.

Superintendent Dr. Paul Salah, in a district message, stressed the importance of safety and urged parents to sit down with their young ones and refresh the critical safety measures.

Title: Here are some major takeaways everyone should remember:

  • Stranger danger: Teach your children to avoid talking to or taking anything from strangers.
  • Stay in groups: Kids are generally safer walking to and from school or their activities in groups. They should also remember to inform a trusted adult about anything suspicious.
  • Trust your gut: If your kid feels something is off, they should immediately leave the area and seek help from a safe, trusted source, like a family member, teacher, or police officer.
  • Speak your truth: Remind your children to report any suspicious activity or person they come across to a trusted parent, teacher, or the authorities.

Dr. Salah added that the management is actively working to ensure the situation is under control and students’ safety is their top priority. You can find more information about the incident in the attached ‘Stranger Danger Incident.pdf’. Stay vigilant and stay safe everyone!
