Exciting Events and Community Drives in Troy and Surrounding Areas!

Hello there, lovely residents of Troy and nearby communities! As we dive into the holiday season, there’s a lot happening to keep your spirits bright and your hearts warm. Whether you’re looking to give back, enjoy festive events, or support local businesses, there’s certainly something for everyone. Let’s explore all the amazing happenings coming up!

Give the Gift of Life

The City of Troy is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host two valuable blood drives this season. First up, mark your calendars for November 25 and December 5 from 1 to 7 PM at the Troy Community Center, located at 3179 Livernois. If you’re interested in contributing, you can schedule your appointment by calling 313-300-9617 or visiting www.redcrossblood.org and entering the ZIP code 48083. Remember to bring a photo ID or your Red Cross Donor Card. All donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh more than 110 pounds.

Additionally, if you’re in the Novi area, don’t miss another blood drive sponsored by Singh Development on the same day, November 25, from 10 AM to 4 PM at Links of Novi. Appointments can be made online at RedCrossBlood.org using the sponsor code thelinks or you can call 1-800-733-2767. Your donation can save lives!

Help Make Holidays Brighter

Speaking of giving back, the Birmingham Fire Department is calling on the community to support their annual Toys for Tots toy drive. You can drop off new, unwrapped toys at any of the two fire stations or the Baldwin Public Library from now until December 20. Every little bit helps make the holidays brighter for children in need!

Local Festivities You Can’t Miss

Get ready for some holiday fun! The Festival of Trees at the Rochester Community House is happening on November 23-24 from 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday. Admission is free, and it’s a fantastic way to kick off the festive season!

Later on, head to downtown Rochester for their exciting Lagniappe event on November 25 starting at 6 PM. The evening will feature a spectacular fireworks display, visits with Santa, and the much-anticipated lighting of The Big, Bright Light Show. What a way to immerse yourself in holiday magic!

Support Local Businesses this Season

This Small Business Saturday, which takes place on November 30, don your best plaid and shop our local treasures in downtown Rochester. You can even enter to win a $500 shopping spree! Just text SHOPSMALL to 866-603-4005 along with a picture of your receipt from any downtown business.

Volunteer Opportunities Galore!

Want to give back this holiday season? Gleaners Community Food Bank is seeking volunteers and food donations! They welcome non-perishable items like canned meats, beans, and healthy cereals. More information can be found at www.gcfb.org/give-now or you can sign up to volunteer through their site.

Keep Warm this Winter

Don’t forget about Coats for the Cold coat drive, running through November 30. You can drop off new or gently used coats at various locations throughout town. Those chilly winter months are coming, and no one should be without a warm coat!

This season is a reminder that together, we can create a stunning community full of kindness and warmth. So roll up your sleeves, grab your loved ones, and get involved in any of these exciting events. Happy holidays!
