Novi, Michigan – Learning Care Group, Inc., the second-largest for-profit early education and child care provider in North America, has announced significant leadership changes aimed at enhancing educational standards and driving company growth. These transitions at the top levels of management are expected to modernize operations, improve customer experiences, and set the stage for future expansion.
Dr. Johnna Weller has been promoted from her role as Chief Academic Officer to Executive Vice President. In this elevated position, she will be tasked with overseeing high-quality engagement and support for educators throughout the organization. Her appointment is part of a broader initiative to strengthen the company’s educational mission and ensure consistent excellence across all Learning Care Group facilities.
In addition, Sean Sondreal has been named the Chief Customer Officer. Sondreal’s focus will be on enhancing the family experience—from the initial inquiry through to Pre-K graduation. He will lead a new Customer Organization dedicated to responsiveness and continuous improvement, which aims to foster stronger relationships between families and educational providers.
Ryan McKendry has also received a promotion to Chief Growth Officer after the retirement of Doug Baker, who has served nearly eight years in the role. Baker, who will remain with the company in an advisory capacity, is expected to provide guidance on strategic expansion. McKendry will continue his prior work leading Corporate Development while overseeing growth initiatives such as new builds and acquisitions.
These leadership adjustments reflect Learning Care Group’s commitment to improving connections with families and communities it serves. The organization currently operates over 1,110 schools across 40 states and has the capacity to serve more than 165,000 children, emphasizing its substantial presence in the early childhood education market.
Learning Care Group employs a comprehensive, research-based curriculum to support early childhood education, aiming to inspire children aged six weeks to 12 years across its 11 unique brands, which include Childtime Learning Centers, Montessori Unlimited, and La Petite Academy. Recognized as a 2023 US Best Managed Company for excellence in management, the organization has a storied history of over 50 years in the industry.
The new leadership structure is designed not only to enhance service quality and educational outcomes but also to prepare Learning Care Group for potential future expansion and investment opportunities.
