News Summary

Michigan State University adds a talented wide receiver, Samson Gash, to its 2026 recruiting class. Gash, hailing from Novi’s Catholic Central High School, recorded impressive stats last season, showcasing his skills with 42 receptions for 731 yards and 12 touchdowns. His commitment strengthens MSU’s recruiting efforts as they compete against major programs. With 20 commitments now secured, the Spartans aim to enhance their roster ahead of the early signing period.

East Lansing, Michigan – Michigan State University has secured another vital player for its 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of in-state wide receiver Samson Gash. Gash, a freshman standout at Catholic Central High School in Novi, Michigan, is regarded as a high-value target who had a significant impact during the 2024 season.

Gash demonstrated exceptional skills on the field, catching 42 passes for a total of 731 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns. In addition to his receiving prowess, he rushed for 347 yards and found the end zone 8 times. His efforts have earned him a three-star rating with an impressive score of 89 and a ranking as the No. 4 player in Michigan according to 247Sports.

Commitment Details and Class Composition

Michigan State’s successful recruitment of Gash came amid competition from prestigious programs such as Alabama and West Virginia, making this commitment particularly significant for the Spartans. With Gash onboard, Michigan State has now amassed a total of 20 commitments for the 2026 recruiting class. The current class also includes notable names like Kayd Coffman, Braylon Hodge, Cory House, and Eddie Whiting, among others.

Furthermore, on June 25, the Spartans welcomed Jeremiah Favorite, a three-star defensive back from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, who became the 21st commitment in the 2026 class. Favorite is ranked as the No. 105 cornerback and No. 1,230 player overall in the nation, based on evaluations from 247Sports. He opted for Michigan State over offers from programs like Indiana, Maryland, Oklahoma State, and Wake Forest.

Current Rankings and Future Prospects

As of the latest update, Michigan State’s recruiting class is positioned at No. 26 nationally and ranks 10th out of 18 Big Ten programs, according to 247Sports. Recent additions, including Collin Campbell, a four-star offensive tackle from Williams Field High School in Gilbert, Arizona, have helped bolster the Spartans’ recruiting efforts. Campbell is recognized as the No. 3 player in Arizona and the No. 34 offensive tackle nationwide, boasting roughly two dozen scholarship offers from schools like Utah, Washington, Nebraska, and UCLA.

Strategic Focus on 2026 Class

Michigan State is intensifying its recruiting focus as the early signing period approaches in December. Despite the positive momentum with recent commitments, the Spartans faced a setback when they lost defensive tackle Logan Nagle, who chose to commit to Pitt instead.

With the recruitment process heating up, Michigan State aims to fortify its roster for the upcoming seasons by securing talented athletes who can contribute to the program’s future success. The addition of Gash and other recruits in the 2026 class reflects the Spartans’ ongoing efforts to build a strong team capable of competing at a high level.
