Michigan State Police investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Kalamazoo

A 35-year-old Kalamazoo man was apprehended after an officer-involved shooting incident that unfolded Thursday afternoon, as reported by the Michigan State Police Fifth District.

In a public service announcement, the authority stated that the incident occurred just before 3 p.m. near Regent Street and Mt. Olivet Road in Kalamazoo. At this location, troopers were trying to execute the arrest of the defendant, wanted on outstanding warrants from Van Buren County.

The suspect was observed stepping into the road from his driveway, visibly armed with a handgun in each hand. The state troopers on the scene fired at him after he started making “furtive movements” and ignored their commands to drop his weapons.
