Novi, Michigan – The Novi community is mourning the loss of three beloved residents who recently passed away, each leaving a unique legacy etched in the hearts of their families and friends. John “Jack” D. Zinser, Jim Rimbold, and David Alexander Wheat, all of whom were known for their contributions to the community and cherished relationships, have left behind fond memories for those who knew them.

John “Jack” D. Zinser

John “Jack” D. Zinser, aged 96, passed away on August 15, 2025. A long-time resident of Novi, Zinser was deeply committed to his family, leaving behind his devoted wife, Suzanne “Sue” Zinser, and two sons, Tom (Lacey) Zinser and John (Carol) Zinser. He was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating his life is scheduled for this fall at First United Methodist Church in Northville, Michigan. Friends and family can also pay their respects online through a memorial page set up by a local funeral home.

Jim Rimbold

Jim Rimbold, aged 81, died on January 26, 2025. Born on April 19, 1943, in Plant City, Florida, Rimbold was an educator who dedicated much of his life to teaching. After graduating from Mackenzie High School in 1961, he earned various degrees, including a bachelor’s in Business Administration and multiple Master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University. He served as a teacher in the Lake Orion Schools before retiring in 2002.

Rimbold is survived by his wife, Norma (Neff) Rimbold, and his two daughters, Angela (Mark) Hoikka and Kristen Rimbold. He also has ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters. Funeral services are scheduled for February 7th at Milford Presbyterian Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.

David Alexander Wheat

David Alexander Wheat, who was just 31 years old, passed away on November 13, 2024. Initially a resident of Novi, he had recently moved to Ferndale. Wheat was known for his quick wit and loving nature, leaving behind his parents, Michael and Anita Wheat, and his siblings, Michael (Scarlett), Meaghan (Clay), and Lauren. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents.

A product of the Novi education system, Wheat graduated from Novi High School in 2010 and later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, obtaining certifications as a CPA and CFA. In his professional career, he worked at various public accounting firms.

Wheat enjoyed outdoor activities, particularly camping and hiking. He was an active member of his community, engaging in hobbies such as running, swimming, and watching sports, particularly the Detroit Lions and local basketball and hockey teams. Visitation for Wheat is set for November 19 at Harry J Will Funeral Home, followed by in-state sessions at St James Catholic Church on November 20.

These three individuals exemplified the spirit of the Novi community. Zinser, Rimbold, and Wheat will be remembered not only for their personal achievements and relationships but also for their lasting impact on those around them. Their services are anticipated to be moments of reflection and celebration among family and friends as they gather to honor lives well-lived.
