Oakland County is Buzzing with Exciting Community Events through September and Beyond

Oakland County, Michigan, continues to offer an array of community events for its residents from charitable activities and fundraisers to festivals and wellness events, starting September 15 and beyond.

Charitable Activities/Fundraisers

Shine a Light NF Walk Michigan aims to raise funds for the Children’s Tumor Foundation on the morning of September 15 at Addison Oaks County Park. On September 17, The Kingsley Bloomfield Hills will host the 20th Annual Vine & Dine Fundraising Event, a premier food and wine tasting fundraiser.

JARC Annual Fundraising Event will take place on September 18 in Detroit to support adults with developmental disabilities. Michigan Weekend Camp for Suicide Loss, a program for youths who have lost a family member or friend to suicide, is scheduled from September 20 to 23 at Camp Tamarack.

Community Events

Rochester Rotary celebrates its service with a community ice cream social on September 15 in Rotary Gateway Park, while the City of Farmington Hills is set to host a series of community outreach events at their local fire stations.

Festivals

Family fun is guaranteed at Troy Family Daze at the Troy Civic Center from September 12 to 15. For art enthusiasts, the Funky Ferndale Art Fair will be in full swing from September 20 to 22. An old-school celebration, the Oktoberfest, will happen on September 21 at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Health/Safety Events

Various health events are also lined up such as the Health and Wellness Fair Open House at the Oxford Township Parks & Recreation Senior Center on September 19 and the Michigan Men’s Health Event at Ford Field, Detroit on September 21.

Parks

September’s last Sunday will be a Free Park Entry Day at Oakland County Parks, so families can enjoy a day of relaxation and fun.

Support activities/Resources

There is also a provision of support activities and resources for anyone who needs assistance pertaining to physical and mental health concerns, housing and food needs, and those coping with suicide or crisis situations.

All residents are encouraged to be part of these gatherings, not just for the fun, joy and learning they bring, but also for the chance to strengthen community ties.
