South Lyon Welcomes the Third Annual Polish Festival at St. Joseph’s

A South Lyon church has announced its third annual Polish festival, and officials are excited to say it’s the biggest one yet. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located on Lafayette Street, will host the Polish Heritage Festival on September 7th and 8th. And guess what? The public is not only welcome but greatly encouraged to join in on the celebration.

The festival’s Co-Chairman, Jim Chuck, highlights that there will be loads of activities waiting for everyone over the weekend, including a couple of rib-tickling eating contests for all ages. “Kids from 5 through 17 are going to be classified into two groups. They will put their abilities to the test in a strawberry shortcake eating contest. The most fun part about it? They can’t use their hands,” said Chuck. When it comes to adults, it’s all about how many delicious pierogies one can devour in ten minutes.

The festival’s mouth-watering offer continues with a platter full of Polish culinary delights, ranging from pierogies and kielbasa to a variety of enticing desserts. To meet the cravings of the varieties of taste buds visiting, there will be food serving for everyone. Need to quench your thirst? No worries, as they’ve got you covered with a wide assortment of beverages that include Polish and draft beer, snow cones, and a variety of soft drinks and water.

In addition to the host of food and beverages, the church has planned a special Mass on Saturday. But it’s not all devout rituals, as the festival won’t forget to spice things up with Polka dancing, musical performances by Polish bands, and artists showcasing their artistic creations on both festival days. To top it off, there will be a dazzling classic car show on Sunday, revealed, Chuck.

The festival owes a lot to local businesses’ generosity and the community’s wholehearted support, which is the pillar behind its increasing popularity and success year after year. “The community really supports what we’re doing. It’s a community-wide event. We’ve been drawing people from different counties,” beamed Chuck.

The Polish Heritage Festival is inviting everyone to enjoy the festivities from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday. To find more about the festival, anyone interested can visit St. Joseph’s website.
