After graduating from Seton High School in 1954, Joan felt a calling that would shape her future. She entered the Daughters of Charity on January 26, 1955, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey.
Academic Achievements
Sister Joan was not only a passionate educator but also an inspired learner. Between 1965 and 1986, she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from St. Joseph College, a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching from Trinity College, and a Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education Administration from the University of Dayton. To honor Sister Joan’s memory, a Wake Service will take place on Wednesday, February 12, at the Villa Chapel in Emmitsburg at 6:00 pm. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
