Southfield Road Closure Alert
Exciting news for Southfield residents! Well, maybe not *exciting* but definitely important to take note of! Starting on Saturday, October 19, a portion of 12 Mile Road is going to be closed for some underground utility work. This closure is expected to impact a lot of vehicles—around 23,500 every single day. That’s quite a bit of traffic!
What’s Happening?
So, what exactly is going on? DTE, our local energy provider, will be doing repairs on an underground electrical conduit that, as luck would have it, caught fire earlier this year. Yikes! Safety first, right? The work will be taking place on 12 Mile Road specifically between Lockdale and Duffy streets, which is just west of Telegraph Road. It’s a busy road, so make sure to plan accordingly!
When Will It Reopen?
If you have plans for that weekend, good news! The road will reopen on Monday, October 21. However, keep in mind that even though the closure will end, some lanes might still be closed until December as the construction crew finishes up. Patience will be key during this time!
Access for Residents and Businesses
For those who live or own businesses near the construction zone, we’ve got you covered! Residents and business owners will still have access to their properties via the streets located to the east and west of the closure. Don’t worry, the local businesses appreciate your support as much as ever!
Detour Directions
For drivers who typically use this busy stretch, a detour will be in place to help you navigate around the work. The recommended detour route involves taking Telegraph Road to 13 Mile Road, and then heading down to Inkster Road. You can then loop back to 12 Mile Road from Inkster. Easy peasy, right?
Questions? Give Them a Call!
We all have questions when it comes to construction and road projects. If you have any concerns or queries about this particular project, don’t hesitate to reach out directly to DTE. You can give them a call at (800) 477-4747. They’re there to help and provide information to keep you in the loop.
Stay Informed!
This maintenance work is a necessary part of keeping our roads safe and our electrical systems running smoothly. So, while it might cause some temporary inconvenience, it’s all for the greater good. Make sure to keep an ear out for any updates related to this ongoing work—and encourage fellow drivers to do the same! Remember, a small detour today will lead to safer and better driving tomorrow.
So there you have it, folks! Mark your calendars and make sure to spread the word to family and friends. Safe travels, everyone!
