Man from Waterford Township Faces Charges for Alleged Abuse of Four Young Boys
News came through Friday from Waterford Township about a man being charged for allegedly sexually abusing four boys and having photos and videos of child sexual abuse on his phone. The man in question is Logan Joseph Sutherland, 21-years-old, and police picked him up from his place on Tuesday following a complaint made against him about inappropriate conduct involving a 10-year-old boy.
Reports suggest that Sutherland had been alone with the boy, between 30 and 40 instances, from 2021 to 2023. As they arrested him, detectives seized Sutherland’s phone and were shocked to find explicit videos and photos of young boys.
Sutherland’s arraignment consisted of him facing four charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of having child sexually abusive material in his possession. This happened at the District Court, where Judge Richard Kuhn set his bond at a whopping $100,000, payable only in cash or surety. Next on schedule is his hearing for probable cause on September 10th. For now, an unnamed public defender is representing Sutherland in his court proceedings.
But that’s not all. There have been more reports coming in after Sutherland’s arrest. Three more kids have told their stories of how they were abused by him. This happened in his home, at a local arcade and go-kart course in Waterford, and at a trampoline park in Commerce Township. The victims are aged 7, 11 and 13.
It’s said that Sutherland was good at persuading the parents of these children that he could be trusted. Because of this, he managed to spend time alone with the kids, resulting in them being assaulted. And it is not only these four who are victims. There are images of several other young boys on Sutherland’s phone, who the police haven’t yet been able to identify.
The investigators urge those who think their kids may have been with Sutherland, or know that he spent time with other children, to come forward and get in touch with Detective Rachel White at 248-618-6122.
