Novi, Michigan’s Detroit Catholic Central beat Toledo Central Catholic 31-12 on Saturday at Fr. Richard Elmer, C.S.B. Stadium.
The win was the Shamrocks’ 20th straight. They jumped out to a 24-0 lead, including a 49-yard field goal from Ty Goddard and a 65-yard punt return touchdown from Gideon Gash, before finishing 31-12 in the 82nd annual Boys Bowl. Senior quarterback Duke Banta left in the second quarter with an apparent arm or shoulder injury, and Peyton Sofran helped finish the game under center.
Central Catholic fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in league play. Sophomore quarterback Lincoln Sellers completed 10-of-19 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns in the road loss, connecting on scoring strikes of 49 and 52 yards, while Jeremiah Fuller led the Irish ground game with 79 rushing yards on 14 carries.
