HERE BREAKING

HOLLY, Mich. — Oakland County prosecutors filed a felony terrorism-threat count against a 26-year-old Holly resident after a scare at a downtown restaurant reopening party on Oct. 10.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office named Daniel James Gibson as the defendant. The filing is a false report or threat of terrorism felony. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald announced it. Holly police took him into custody that afternoon.

Roughly 100 guests were outdoors for live music celebrating the return of Andys Place on Broad Street. Officials said Gibson tried to bring outside alcohol, organizers put him out, and he kept climbing the fence around the gathering.

Prosecutors allege he then vowed to open fire on everyone there while putting a hand into a backpack, prompting 911 calls. Holly officers found him near Crapo Park and took him into custody.

A search of the backpack turned up a knife plus several alcohol containers, and officers reported no firearm. If convicted, Gibson faces as much as 20 years behind bars and a fine of up to $20,000. He appeared Oct. 13 before Judge Michael Bosnic; a court set bond at fifty thousand dollars, cash or surety allowed, with a ten-percent provision.

The restaurant had been closed since a June 21, 2022 blaze. The Oct. 10 party marked its comeback after that fire forced a long rebuild.
