NOVI, Mich. — Detroit Catholic Central, the Novi private school whose football team has long been a statewide power, is now the top team in Michigan in one closely watched poll after a 27-20 win over Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.
The Shamrocks are 7-0. In the latest statewide Super 25 they appear as Novi Detroit Catholic Central (Division 1): 7-0, up one spot from No. 2 the week before, as there is a new No. 1 team in the state after Week 7.
The program is among Michigan’s most prominent Catholic school athletic programs, particularly in football, and it has won multiple state football championships.
