NOVI, Mich. — Detroit Catholic Central of Novi is still the team to catch in Michigan high school football. The Shamrocks, unbeaten at 8-0, kept the No. 1 spot in the statewide Super 25 rankings released Sunday after Week 8.
The Division 1 power sits ahead of Detroit Cass Tech, East Kentwood and Saline, all of which are also 8-0. Howell, Chelsea and Romeo follow among the other perfect records near the top.
The next test comes on a big stage. Catholic Central faces Brother Rice at Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday, Oct. 24, in the 7:30 p.m. featured game of CHSL Prep Bowl LIV. Brother Rice is 6-2 and checks in at No. 19 in the new Super 25.
A win could give the Shamrocks the CHSL Central title outright. They have not lost a division game since a 14-7 defeat at Warren De La Salle on Sept. 22, 2023, and Brother Rice last beat them head-to-head by a 41-14 score back in 2014.
The Prep Bowl day also marks the Catholic League, which is playing its 100th year of competition this school year. Ford Field gates open at 7:15 a.m.
