NOVI, Mich. — Detroit Catholic Central will play at home again in the second round of the state football playoffs, with Oxford (8-2) coming to Novi for a Division 1 district final against the 9-1 Shamrocks.
The Shamrocks reached the district title game by beating Lake Orion 43-6 in an MHSAA Playoffs game on Friday, Oct. 30. The lopsided result got Catholic Central back on track after its only loss of the season, a 25-31 defeat to Brother Rice at Ford Field on Oct. 24.
Before that loss, the Shamrocks had strung together a long winning run, picking up a 22nd consecutive victory earlier this fall.
The state association has not yet set the day or kickoff time; second-round games will be played on either Friday or Saturday, with times announced in the next few days.
The winner keeps alive a path toward the 11-player state finals at Ford Field in Detroit on Nov. 27-28. Playoff games stream live and on demand on the NFHS Network.
