NOVI, Mich. — A 77-year-old Novi woman who went missing Friday evening has been located unharmed, the Novi Police Department said, ending a search that had drawn neighbors into the effort.
Officers said that around 6 p.m. she left the Brookdale Senior Living community at 45182 W. Park Drive. She was dressed in gray and had a purse and a paper drawing pad with her when she left.
Her caregivers told police she lives with dementia and might seem confused or lost. She had no car and no cell phone, which left officers relying on residents to watch for her in the area around the West Park Drive community.
Police later reported that she was found safe and is back at her residence. No other details about where she was found were released.
Families caring for someone with dementia can call 911 right away when a loved one wanders off. Novi runs a combined police and fire public safety department, and its officers handle missing person calls across the city.
