Brighton and Burton, Michigan, are set to welcome Burlington Stores as the retailer opens two new locations on July 25, 2025. This move aims to enhance local shopping options with discounted brands and products.
The Brighton store will be situated within the Brighton Mall, while the Burton store will take the place of a former VGs Grocery in the Courtyard Shopping Center at 4153 E. Court St.. These new stores will showcase Burlington’s recently updated store layout, which focuses on improving customer experience with easy navigation and an emphasis on value under the company motto: “Deals. Brands. WOW!”
The openings in Brighton and Burton are part of Burlington’s aggressive expansion strategy, which includes plans to establish approximately 100 new locations nationwide by the end of 2025. So far, in 2025, the company has already opened 22 stores in various states. The goal is to reach 2,000 stores across the country by the end of 2026, having currently operated more than 1,100 stores across 46 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.
The new store layout that Burlington is implementing is designed to streamline the shopping experience, making it easier for shoppers to find the best deals. Up to half of Burlington’s existing locations have already undergone this transformation, with plans for the remaining stores to be updated by the end of 2026.
Along with Burlington, the Courtyard Shopping Center in Burton has attracted other retailers like Michaels and Harbor Freight, both of which have recently opened stores in the area. The completion of these stores is set to enhance the overall shopping experience for the local community, making the center a popular retail destination.
The opening of the Brighton store is expected to create approximately 65 to 75 jobs in Livingston County, further contributing to the local economy. In addition to the Burlington store, plans for a Ross Dress for Less store in Brighton Mall are also underway, although the opening date for this location has yet to be confirmed.
The new Burton store signifies Burlington’s commitment to expanding their footprint in Michigan, being the second store in Genesee County. The first Burlington location established in this county can be found off Miller Road in Flint Township.
