This tragedy has brought attention back to the necessity of extra vigilance during prime-hours of residential traffic, especially amidst the bustling traffic of the weekend.
In the quiet surroundings of Allen Township in Hillsdale County, what seemed to be an ordinary Friday night turned fatal for a toddler who had strayed out of her home. In a heart-wrenching development, Michigan State police have revealed the child was struck by a car on the 200 block of Chicago Street at around 8:15 p.m.
On arrival at the scene, state troopers found first responders in the road trying to save the toddler’s life. The troopers joined in the effort to sustain the young girl’s life until an EMS unit could arrive..
On arrival, the EMS professionals rushed the toddler to the hospital. Despite the collective efforts of all involved, the toddler succumbed to her injuries, leaving the community of Hillsdale County on a cloud of heart-rending grief.
Further details released by the Michigan State Police pointed at an unavoidable accident. The toddler was reported to have woken up from her bed while her parents were busy around the house. Succeeding in passing unnoticed, she walked out of the house and onto Chicago Street where she was hit by an oncoming car.
An Allen resident, the unidentified driver of the vehicle involved in the accident, has charted no record of alcohol or drugs usage. The investigators have stated that intoxicants do not appear to be a factor in the devastating accident.
The local law enforcement is currently appealing for any additional information that can shed more light on the unfortunate incident. Anyone with information is urged to reach out to the Michigan State Police Jackson Post at (517) 780-4580.
