Nathaniel Staehling scored on an interception return in the first half. Minnesota scored after halftime and held on for the 20-14 win.
Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham said the offense is far from where it needs to be. The Wolverines are off next week and host Penn State on Oct. 17.
